What's actually in town
- Coquina Plaza: Sheridan St & Dykes Rd, just west of I-75. The town's one shopping center, anchored by a full Publix, with a handful of small shops and eateries around it. For day-to-day groceries, most of the town never needs to leave the town.
- Tom Thumb: Griffin Rd & Dykes Rd. A 24-hour convenience store and gas station from the old family-owned South Florida chain. It's the town's unofficial crossroads.
- Davie Feed & Farm Supply: S Flamingo Rd. Yes, the town's third retail establishment is a feed store. That tells you everything about the place.
And that's it. By design, and fiercely defended at Town Council whenever a developer suggests otherwise.
Groceries: the ring around the town
| Store | Where | Corridor |
|---|---|---|
| Publix: Coquina Plaza | Sheridan St & Dykes Rd (in town) | , |
| Publix: Westfork Plaza | Pines Blvd & Dykes Rd, Pembroke Pines | South, ~10 min |
| Publix: Laguna Isles | Sheridan St west of I-75, Pembroke Pines | Southwest edge |
| Publix: Country Isles & Weston Lakes | Weston Rd / Indian Trace, Weston | North, ~10 min |
| Whole Foods | Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines | South |
| Trader Joe's | Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines | South |
| Costco, BJ's & Sam's Club | Pines Blvd corridor, Pembroke Pines | South, ~15 min |
The pattern to internalize: Pines Boulevard (south) is the big-box and warehouse-club corridor; Weston Rd/Indian Trace (north) is the polished small-center corridor; Griffin Rd east into Davie is where the ranch economy lives.
The ranch economy: feed, tack, western
- Grif's Western: Orange Dr, downtown Davie, next to the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds. The biggest western store in South Florida, saddles, tack, boots, work wear, with Grif's Feed & Pet Supply handling hay, feed, and ranch supplies alongside. If you own a horse in Broward, you will end up at Grif's; it's a rite of passage.
- Davie Feed & Farm Supply: S Flamingo Rd, inside Southwest Ranches. The close option for feed runs.
- Hay delivery: most barns buy by the pallet from delivery suppliers; ask neighbors or the Sunshine Ranches classifieds (see the associations directory), word of mouth beats Google here.
Health: hospitals, urgent care, late-night pharmacy
| Need | Closest options |
|---|---|

| Urgent care | MD Now at Pines Blvd & Dykes Rd (explicitly serves SW Ranches) plus multiple options in Pembroke Pines and Weston |

Fuel
- Tom Thumb: Griffin & Dykes, 24 hours, diesel available.
- Chevron: Sheridan St corridor (diesel, propane, useful for the grill and the farm).
- Shell: Sheridan & Dykes, by Coquina Plaza.
Diesel at two of the three matters more than it sounds, this is a truck-and-trailer town.
Eating out, the local way
There's no restaurant row in town, and residents like it that way. The habits split by border:
- Griffin Road east (Davie/Cooper City side): the everyday standbys, the Outback on Griffin that even Outback's own locator names "Davie/Southwest Ranches," neighborhood spots like Fat Stork, and the sports bars of Cooper City.
- Weston Town Center (north): the date-night direction, Tarantella, Lucille's American Café, and the rest of the Town Center circuit, 15 minutes up Weston Rd.
- Pines Boulevard (south): every chain known to man, plus the newer food-hall openings of west Pembroke Pines.
The honest summary for foodies: you're 20–30 minutes from serious dining (Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, even Wynwood on a good traffic day), and five minutes from very good takeout. Most residents call that balance exactly right.

Around town, the year runs on a few fixtures worth knowing: the Country Fair and Carnival on Griffin Road every January, the Community Farmer's Market at Southwest Meadows Sanctuary, and the association meetings where the town's decisions actually get shaped. New residents who show up at one meeting know more neighbors in a month than most suburbanites meet in a decade.
The errand math
Budget reality for daily logistics: almost everything is a 10–15 minute drive, nothing is walkable, and there is no delivery-app density like the coastal cities (most services do reach the town, with longer windows). Families quickly settle into a rhythm, one big Pines Boulevard run a week, Publix at Coquina for everything in between, and Grif's when the hay gets low. It stops feeling like a trade-off within a month; it starts feeling like the reason you moved.
